HB 2

A little background for those who have been living under a rock the last several months.

On February 22, 2016, the Charlotte City Council passed an ordinance prohibiting discrimination against LGBT persons. Despite a loud public outcry against it, mainly because it would have allowed people to use restrooms and dressing rooms of the gender with which they personally identified; i.e. a man could claim he identifies as female and therefore can use a women's restroom or changing room. Anyone else see a problem with this? Well, most Charlotte residents did, but the mayor knew she had the votes to pass it and rammed it through after a false debate using ACTORS, for crying out loud, to present both sides. Pushback wasn't there, but we can only speculate how the opponents of this over-reach by the LGBT lobby were portrayed.

So, much like Obamacare on the national level, it passed despite overwhelming opposition. Interestingly enough, the date this ordinance would have taken effect was April Fool's Day.

Yeah, I went there!

Well, no one listened to us common sense folks except the governor. He called a special legislative session urging lawmakers to, well, do SOMETHING, so they passed HB 2, which prohibited local governments from passing anti-discrimination ordinances. That effectively nullified the ordinance a week before it was to take effect.

Pushback generally favors government at the local level, but this government is supposed to protect EVERYONE, not just three percent of the population. Trust me, if you're a guy following my daughter or wife into a restroom, you will be leaving feet first either on a gurney or in a body bag.

But what really irritates me is the backlash.

Let's break it down.

On February 21st, 2016, Charlotte had not even passed this ordinance.

On March 23rd, the NC Legislature made sure it never took effect.

So on April Fool's Day, Charlotte did not have this ordinance in place. In other words, during those five and a half weeks, NOTHING CHANGED!

Nonetheless, Bruce Springsteen cancelled his appearance in North Carolina, as did Pearl Jam and some other acts that I wasn't aware were still around, much less relevant. PayPal cancelled its expansion plans. Movie studios pulled back plans to film here. The NBA took their hooker magnet known as the NBA All-Star game out of Charlotte.

That last one is a laugh. When's the last time anyone saw an openly gay man or woman at a basketball game unless it was the WNBA? C'mon!

The liberals are now saying that North Carolina lost thousands of jobs, billions of dollars and that the sky was falling all because of those evil Republicans and the devil himself, Pat McCrory. Pushback feels the state simply returned its 30 pieces of silver to the Corporate Pharisees.

But as I said, NOTHING HAS CHANGED! This was just a knee-jerk PC PR BS power play by weak-willed organizations fearing a backlash from a bunch of FLAGs. I personally don't care if PayPal closes up shop and gets their pandering ass out of NC along with the movie studios, washed-up musicians and professional sports organizations. It's PC organizations like this that drew the types of people here who would vote for a FLAG in the first place.

Oh, and before any of you PC liberals get your panties in a twist about my little word play with FLAG, it does officially stand for Friends of Lesbians And Gays, so it IS a legitiamte term and not intended as a cover for a slur, though the similarity is not lost on me. Deal with it!

I've called my organization Pushback for a reason and that is to encourage those of us who still have a lick of common sense to "push back" against the fringe elements of our society. I urge you to write the governor of North Carolina and show him your support. Let the NBA, PayPal and Target know you will not do business with companies who allow political correctness to trump the safety of their customers.

NBA Contact Site Be sure to ask them why it's okay for them to do business in China, which has far worse human rights abuses than HB 2.

Target if you have a RedCard, call them to cancel it and be sure to tell them WHY and not because some angry conservative with a website told you to. See, since Target couldn't close every store in NC but still decided that gay rights trump human rights, they're going to allow men to follow your wife, mother and child into the dressing room.

PayPal Again, if you have an account with them, call 888-221-1161 to cancel it and tell them it is because of their attempt to dictate North Carolina's affairs through blackmail and extortion. I also have two mailing addresses. I couldn't find any email contacts.

2211 North First Street San Jose, California 95131 - Corporate (Dan Schulman is the CEO, I would adress mail to his attention. Send it certified and make sure he is the only one who can sign for it. it may come back as refused, but all the better)

12312 Port Grace Boulevard La Vista, Nebraska 68128 - Operations

When contacting businesses or politicians, be firm, but courteous. Yeah, I get a little worked up on this site, but I also know I'm mainly preaching to the choir. The rest of the world will view me as just another nutjob with a laptop and a Bible. Don't come off as some whackjob; just simply state why and that you would like the associate to put it in his or her notes and pass it up the chain. You may get laughed at or mocked. Ask to speak to a supervisor and work your way up. Yes, one peron doing it may be viewed as a kook, but thousands are seen as a force to be reckoned with.

Let's let these people know conservatives have money, too.
